Advanced Lean is a required course for the Lean Master program and an elective option for Master Black Belt.

Course Details

Designed to move quickly beyond the theory of Lean, this course has a major focus on value stream assessment skills—how to identify and remove waste in a process and ensure that it doesn’t creep back into the process. You’ll learn how to apply such advanced Lean tools as Fast Changeover, Kanban (pull systems) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance). In addition, you’ll more deeply explore basic Lean concepts like mistake proofing, visual control and 5S to uncover opportunities and make improvements that align with strategic objectives.

A distinguishing feature of this course is that it gives you a proven method for running Lean Kaizen events, using the SCORE roadmap, along with all the usable Excel worksheets you’ll need to engage in these events. Read “Leading Lean Kaizen Improvements” for more on SCORE.

Group and individual exercises and simulations ensure learning is engaging and effective. Instructors also tailor their examples to participants—whether from service, manufacturing, healthcare or transactional environments—and will illustrate techniques by showing how they apply directly to challenges faced by participants. Peer-to-peer learning further reinforces application as professionals share their unique perspectives, projects and experience.
