In March of 2020, Lean Methods Group like many other businesses was faced with the sobering reality that business models reliant on brick and mortar were at grave risk. Our first reaction was to recreate the classroom experience using a camera, laptop, and whiteboard while adhering to the rules of time and space created centuries ago and modified over time to accommodate air travel. (5 days x 8 hours)

We quickly learned that eight solid hours of virtual training while home with the pets, kids and spouse was untenable for our participants and all of us were craving more meaningful collaborative interactions with other professionals.
Through our experiences of the last two years and the voice of our customers, Lean Methods has created a world-class, virtually delivered certification program. Whether candidates are at home or office, they can enjoy, learn and practice applying the tools and methods to receive a Lean Six Sigma certification.

Following the disciplined Six Sigma DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control) road map, this course teaches you how to collect and analyze performance data, identify inefficiencies and problems, pinpoint root causes, and institute new protocols to greatly improve processes. In addition to teaching the complementary methodologies of Lean and Six Sigma, this course also provides skills in leading teams through the process of change.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply such Lean concepts as 5S, waste reduction, process mapping, value stream mapping and mistake proofing.
  • Define, scope and execute DMAIC projects.
  • Apply the DMAIC methodology to business issues and transition projects from phase to phase.
  • Apply basic and more advanced statistical analyses to determine the relationship between key inputs and process outputs.
  • Effectively manage team dynamics and understand how to work with multiple levels of leadership to remove barriers and achieve project success.
  • Close projects and hand over control to process owners.
  • Present projects to instructors, peers and managers.

Pre-requisites

Pre-reading

Who Should Attend?

Anyone desiring the skills of a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and those who seek to become professional problem solvers

Certification

Requirements for Certification:

  • Proficiency of at least 70% on exams
  • Submission and acceptance of Black Belt project
  • Attendance in the virtual classroom with active participation

Certificates Received:

  • Upon completion of the virtual classroom, students will receive a “training completion” certificate for Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Upon meeting the certification requirements above, students will receive a “Certificate of Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification”

**Students seeking certification through IASSC must successfully sit for and pass the IASSC exam.  Lean Methods Group’s Black Belt course, quizzes, and exams prepare the student for the IASSC exam based on their Body of Knowledge.  Lean Methods Group’s exams are included in this course, so students have the opportunity to certify through both institutions.

Students will attend 10 lab sessions with each lab running for two to three consecutive days 4 hours per day of live instructor-led virtual classroom via the Microsoft Teams platform and blend this learning with Lean Methods’ state-of-the-art online Black Belt course. The course is designed to be accelerated through 25 days over 30 weeks of virtual lab training. Project coaching hours are delivered via workflow through the Lean Methods certification portal.

If the student is already a trained Green Belt, they may join the Lean Methods’ Green Belt to Black Belt Upgrade program.

Students should expect to come to the virtual lab ready to participate in interactive simulations with students from other industry sectors.

Each Black Belt session is $7,500 and includes everything listed here:

  • E-learning, quizzes, and exam access for one-year
  • Certification
  • Each student will have two years to submit their project.
  • Minitab statistical software during training and project work up to one year if needed
  • Black Belts receive up to 4 hours of personalized coaching from seasoned Lean Methods’ MBB via our certification portal.
  • Access to eBinder, PDFs and virtual classroom posters
  • Simulations (virtual)
